Religious Facility – MALI MOSQUE

At the intersection of spirituality and modernity, the Ouolofobougou Mosque stands as a statement of contemporary religious architecture in Mali. The project adopts a design language that reinterprets Arab-Islamic aesthetics through a minimalist and refined approach. The immaculate whiteness of the geometric volumes is complemented by sandy brick textures, while metal mashrabiyas featuring calligraphic patterns adorn the façades.

These architectural lace-like elements are not merely decorative; they filter the tropical sunlight to create a contemplative interior atmosphere, animated by subtle plays of light and shadow that enhance the sacred character of the space.

Built on a covered area of 290 m², the building is organized around a prayer hall flooded with natural light, complemented by ablution facilities and an administrative office. The verticality of the minaret, designed as a simple and graphic blade of light, serves as a defining compositional element and a strong visual landmark within the Bamako district.

Through its interplay of solid and void spaces and its carefully integrated landscaping, this project, scheduled for completion in 2025, stands as an ode to urban serenity, offering worshippers a meaningful connection between the expression of faith and the discipline of contemporary design.
